Help Meteorite BI’s Saiku Reporting become even more awesome!

This article is more than 8 years old.

Our friends over at Meteorite BI are progressing along their path to bring Saiku Reporting to as many users as possible. One of their core targets is to get it integrated into Saiku 4 Core and onto Canonical’s Juju service modelling platform as soon as possible. Now, they need our help to make this happen.

Coming Q1 2016, the new version of Saiku Reporting will allow users to create highly customisable reports using the same web interface they have become accustomed to using whilst using Saiku Analytics that are suitable to publishing and distribution. Geared towards hard copy reporting instead of highly interactive analysis, Saiku Reporting allows users to produce reports in a number of different formats using templates which add branding and themes.

The team has done a huge amount of work towards getting Saiku OLAP ready for the Juju store; writing a lot of scripts to add cool utilities to the core platform for things like self registering data sources such as Hadoop, MongoDB and the latest Spark Engine, cache warming, repository configuration etc. and there are plans to allow Saiku Reporting to operate in the same environment.

This means users will then be able to spin up a multi service Juju model with, for example, a MySQL server, MongoDB for web applications and why not a HA Hadoop cluster in there as well. Saiku Reporting & Saiku OLAP would then be able to report directly over all of those services allowing end users the ability to create their own custom reports and analysis, and export those reports to nice looking PDF’s, Excel files etc.

There’s still a lot of work to do and so, now, the company is appealing to the community, users, distributors, and consultants who will sell Saiku to their end users, to help raise the capital to get there. As a result, they have launched a kickstarter campaign, and we have another 17 1/2 days to get to their target funding of £15,000.

Let’s get behind the guys to make this happen!
