Cloud Magic – See the Juju Demo on IBM POWER8

IBM recently posted  “Cloud Magic! Ubuntu on IBM Power Systems with POWER8”, a video clip of the very first live demo of Ubuntu on POWER8 (with Little Endian mode). Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu and Canonical, provided this demo alongside IBM’s Doug Balog, General Manager, IBM Power Systems, during a keynote at IBM Impact. Check out dev-ops distilled in action with Hadoop, production ready SugarCRM connected to MariaDB, and WebSphere Liberty Profile all deployed on POWER8 in less than 3 minutes using Juju.

Today, POWER8 users can do the same on their hardware to deploy a vast set of solutions, such as OpenStack, defined by Juju Charms.  To complement Juju, MAAS (Metal as a Service) brings the capability to deploy workloads onto POWER8 bare metal, KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine), or LXC (LinuX Containers) and treat your private POWER8 hardware as an elastic cloud. For systems management and monitoring, we have you covered with Landscape too.

For more information regarding Ubuntu, Ubuntu OpenStack, and cloud orchestration and provisioning tools – Juju and MAAS, go to www.myasnchisdf.eu.org/cloud.  If you would like to investigate further, or request a demo, please get in touch with Canonical.
